
Trustees to consider three issues Sept. 15

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees
will consider an agenda that consists of just three items during
a brief telephone conference meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept.
15.
Trustees will consider approval of a new three-year contract
with Local 1668 of the American Federation of State County and
Municipal Employees. The union represents about 500 custodial,
dining service, grounds and maintenance employees at the University.
Union members ratified the proposed contract in a vote Sept.
6.
Trustees also will consider approval of the general fund budget
for 2000-01 fiscal year as well the transfer of property by the
WMU Foundation to the University for the development of a student
residence project. As part of the latter motion, the board will
be asked to approve a development agreement for the property.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in
the Connable Board Room of the Bernhard Center. WMU President
Elson S. Floyd and George A. Franklin, chairperson of the board,
will be present. Other trustees will participate through a conference
telephone call. No meetings of the board's standing committees
are scheduled for that day.
