WFS presents 'Lost In Translation'

KALAMAZOO--Western Film Society presents six screenings of "Lost in Translation," starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson and directed by Sofia Coppola, at the Little Theatre on the campus of Western Michigan University Jan. 16-18.
Show times for "Lost In Translation" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 16-17, and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for general admission.
"Lost in Translation" is about Bob Harris (Murray), an American film actor, far past his prime. He visits Tokyo to appear in commercials, and he meets Charlotte (Johannson), the young wife of a visiting photographer. Bored and weary, Bob and Charlotte make ideal, if improbable traveling companions. Scarlet is looking for "her place in life," and Bob is tolerating a mediocre stateside marriage. As the relationship between Bob and Charlotte deepens, they come to the realization that their visits to Japan, and one another, must soon end. Or must it?
Entertainment Weekly lists "Lost In Translation" as one of the best films of 2003 and Murray as a likely nominee for a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance.
Screenings take place at the Little Theatre at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on Western Michigan University's East Campus. Free off-street parking is available behind the theatre.
