Career and Technical Education

Western Michigan University's undergraduate career and technical education teacher education program will prepare you to teach business, marketing, technology, family and consumer sciences, and industrial technology in middle schools, high schools, technical schools and alternative education schools. You can choose from five majors:

  • Family and consumer sciences teacher education major
  • Industrial technology vocational major
  • Industrial technology non-vocational major
  • Occupational education studies major
  • Secondary education in business major and group major

Beyond the classroom

As a career and technical education student at WMU, you will be required to participate in pre-intern and intern teaching experiences before graduating.

After you graduate

Recent WMU graduates with degrees in career and technical education are working as:

  • Alternative education teachers in grades six through 12
