Me, Myself and I (LOVE WESTERN!)
My name is Kelsey and I am a sophomore here at Western Michigan University. I have recently changed my major from early elementary education to journalism! This is a really exciting, (and stressful), time for me right now as I work on putting together the final touches of my second year of college.
A little fun fact about me, I am actually a transfer student as well! If that wasn’t enough, I actually transferred from our rival college, (Central Michigan University), in the fall of 2012. I am a Kalamazoo native, and I guess you could say that WMU runs in the family seeing as I am now a third generation Bronco.
Honestly, I never really bought into the idea that someone could “love” college. I mean, its basically just like going back to school with harder classes and not knowing anyone, right? WRONG! I have never been happier in my life, true story. I was amazed, when coming to campus, how open and accepting everyone was here. And the real kicker? Everyone else was just as excited as I was! I got involved early on with activities taking place on campus and met some great people in the meantime. I also got to know all of my teachers on a one-on-one basis within the first few weeks!
To all you future college-goers out there, go ahead and be nervous, scared, apprehensive and so on, (I know I was), but keep this in mind: life is all about taking risks. College is one of the biggest steps you will take toward your future. You may hit some roadblocks along the way, but, in the end, you could find yourself exactly where you have always wanted to be. Don’t let pessimism hold you back from your potential!
Peace, Love and Bronco Pride,
