My First Post :)
Considering this is my first post, I don’t really know how to start off. So I decided that I am going to take this time to reflect on my time here at Western Michigan University.
It’s really hard to believe that I am going into my fourth year here, it seems like just yesterday I was moving into Valley 1 as a first- year student. I came into college wanting the same thing that I received through my high school career; great friends, leadership opportunities, and memories that I can hold onto forever. So when I began my college career I decided to explore many different leadership opportunities all around campus. It was so overwhelming! There is so many things to do on WMU’s campus, it’s crazy! But with the help and encouragement of my First-Year Seminar instructors, I realized that college was about finding my niche and not about being overly involved in everything.
My second year I began my job as a Student Ambassador and I absolutely love my job. Every day I get to talk to prospective students and tell them how much I love Western, what more could I want in a job?! I also joined a sorority during my second year and I have had so many opportunities to challenge my leadership skills as well as gained values and friendships.
Looking back on it now, I wouldn’t have had so many chances to challenge my self and moments of inspiration if it wasn’t for Western. In high school, you think hat college is only about harder classes and a more vibrant social life – but it is so much more than that. College is a place to jump out of your comfort zone and learn new things about different cultures, opinions, and people. I am so thankful for my time here at WMU and I am excited for my senior year.
