Next Up: Wolfsburg!

Our second city we visited was Wolfsburg, the location of the world headquarters of Volkswagen. It was so fun! We were not allowed to take photos inside of the plant, but we received a plant tour on a giant Volkswagen convertible. After zipping around and watching a car being built from just unpolished parts to an entirely finished vehicle, we attended a marketing seminar. At the presentation we learned about their marketing plan, and how their marketing department portrays their company to the world through advertising and studying different target markets. I loved it, and found it enlightening.

After the tour and presentation, we went to the “Autostadt” which means “Auto City”. Here, we entered a magical car land. Inside, there were buildings designated for each high-end brand that they own. In each building they had information on the brand, and models of their newest and most expensive vehicles. Overall, the Volkswagen group includes: VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, VW Commercial Vehicles, Scania, and Man. Needless to say, all of the guys on our trip turned into six year olds.

It was a really fun day, and I got to learn a lot about cars (considering I knew virtually nothing beforehand). Below is a photo of the 12 brands, and a photo of the only Bugatti present at the Autostadt.
