Fall 2013 Freshman Scholarships
WMU offers opportunities for students to earn merit-based or need-based scholarships. Students awarded more than one admission scholarship will be awarded the scholarship with the highest value. The Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Office is the resource for complete scholarship eligibility, renewal requirements, and additional WMU scholarship opportunities.
Value: $12,500 annually ($50,000 total award)
Criteria
- 3.7+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale at end of junior year
- 26+ ACT composite or SAT of 1170+ (math + critical reading)
- Eligible students participate in one of two Medallion competition days on Jan. 26 or Feb. 2, 2013
- For first-time, full-time freshman students entering fall 2013

Value: $3,000 for one year and $4,000 second year WMU Residence Hall Award
Criteria
- 3.7+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale at end of junior year
- 26+ ACT composite or SAT of 1170+ (math + critical reading)
- Eligible students participate in one of two Medallion competition days on Jan. 26 or Feb. 2, 2013
- To receive the one-time $4,000 second year WMU Residence Hall Award, students must live in WMU residence hall their first year

- 3.6+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale at end of junior year
- Students must qualify through the National Merit competition, be chosen as finalists and select WMU as their first-choice institution on the NMSC website

Value: $1,500 for one year
Criteria
- 3.4+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale
- 24+ ACT composite or SAT of 1090+ (math + critical reading)

Value: $4,000 annually ($16,000 total award)
Criteria

- For students who attend and graduate from selected high schools
- Eligible students participate in the MLS competition on Feb. 23, 2013

- Available to non-Michigan residents only

- 3.0+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale
- 22+ ACT composite or SAT of 1020+ (math + critical reading)
- First-time freshman students entering fall 2013
- Available to non-Michigan residents only
