Guest Admissions

Welcome to Western Michigan University! We’re delighted that you’re exploring the possibilities at WMU (Western Michigan University). WMU has many choices for students who wish to take one course, pursue additional coursework, or return to WMU to complete a degree.

We’re confident the more you learn about why WMU is a smart choice, the more you’ll realize this may be the perfect place to begin, continue, or complete your education.

High School Dual Enrollment Students

High school students in the greater Kalamazoo area who have demonstrated the potential for success in college may be eligible to enroll in WMU classes.

Guest Students

Undergraduate students who are currently attending other colleges or universities may apply for guest student status at WMU.

Nondegree Students

Students who plan not to seek a degree and only wish to take classes may apply for non-degree status.

Second Bachelor’s Degree Students

Any student who already has a bachelor’s degree and wishes to obtain a second is classified as a Second Bachelor’s student.

Senior Citizens’ Opportunity Program in Education (SCOPE)

The SCOPE program offers persons, age 62 or older, the opportunity to register for one class each semester, tuition free.

Returning Students

Returning students and prior applicants and/or students who were admitted within the previous two years but never attended WMU may be eligible for readmission.
