Students are considered for admission as transfer students when they have completed college coursework after high school graduation.
If you have earned 26 or more transferable hours at the time of application, you must:
- Submit official college transcript(s) sent from each institution attended
- Have earned at least a 2.0 (C) grade point average (as calculated by WMU)
If you have earned fewer than 26 transferable hours at the time of application, you must also submit either:
- An official high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores (scores are not required if two years will have elapsed between high school graduation and your WMU entry date), or
- An official GED score
Courses completed, as well as the trend of the most recent grades, will be taken into account.
When to apply
We strongly recommend that you connect with Admissions and an academic advisor at least two semesters before you plan to enroll. You should apply by the time you begin your last semester at your present college or university. The earlier you are admitted, the more options you will have when creating your class schedule. Keep in mind that you do not have to pay tuition directly after registration. Tuition payment deadlines are one week before the start of the fall semester and the first day of classes of the spring semester. The chart below can be used as a guide on when to submit your application.
|Entering semester||Recommended to apply by||Registration begins|
|Fall (September)||Early January||Mid-March|
|Summer I (May)||December||Early February|
|Summer II (June)||December||Early February|
Some academic programs have separate admission requirements and/or require an additional application, portfolio or audition. Be sure to review the appropriate department website for detailed information and application deadlines.
