Students transferring to WMU for the first time from a Michigan community college may receive one of the following merit-based awards. Transfer scholarships require that you have transferred at least 26 semester hours by the dates listed below. In addition, students must have at least a 3.25 grade point average in transferable courses for consideration, unless a different minimum is indicated. All newly admitted students who are transferring from a Michigan community college, and are eligible for transfer scholarships, will automatically be mailed information, and no separate application is required.
For all primary and competitive transfer scholarships, recipients must be U.S. citizens or legal residents. Disbursement of all awards begins with the Fall 2013 semester. The following information describes transfer scholarships to be awarded for 2013 entry only. Future years' scholarships are determined on an annual basis and are subject to change.
To be considered for one of the Primary Transfer Scholarships, you must submit all documents required for admission, including up-to-date transcripts, to the Office of Admissions postmarked by August 1, 2013. To be considered for a Competitive Transfer Scholarship, you must submit all documents required for admission, including up-to-date transcripts, to the Office of Admissions and postmarked by March 1, 2013. Recipients of these scholarships will be selected by the Transfer Scholarship Selection Committee and notified in April 2013.
