Robert J. Ackerman
1979 Doctor of Philosophy
Dr. Ackerman, who also earned a certificate from WMU's specialty program in alcohol and drug abuse, is recognized as the foremost authority in the nation on children of alcoholics. He has written numerous books, the first of which was the first published in the United States on the topic. A professor and coordinator of graduate studies in the sociology department of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he co-founded the National Association for Children of Alcoholics.
