Small company internship awards
To encourage student job placements with innovative and dynamic company partners within the state of Michigan, the Small Company Internship Award program provides funding for students to work as summer interns with corporate partners on projects that are both beneficial to the company and academically relevant to the student. The SCIA program is targeted at small Michigan businesses in the science, technology, engineering and math fields where exciting product and service innovation occurs. If your small company is interested in this program, please contact the WMU Business Connection director, email@example.com or at (269) 387-0950 or visit www.michigancrn.org/scia/index.php
2012 SCIA interns and companies
The 2012 SCIA program at Western Michigan Univrsity was extremely successful due to the dedication of the interns and the support of the small companies. Six out of the 10 internships extended past the initial schedule and five out of the 10 resulted in part-time employment. One SCIA small company owner said, “our intern has provided an essential function.” Another stated that with time, the work of his intern will “show us a substantial savings.” Congratulations to our 2012 interns!
