Hello! My name is Nicole and I am the President of WMU's Campus Activities Board. I am a senior majoring in Organizational Communication! I have been involved with CAB ever since my first year at WMU, and have loved every minute of it. I served as a General Assembly member as a part of the Special Events Committee for two years, held a position on Executive Board my junior year as Media Relations Coordinator, and now proudly serve as President! My favorite thing about CAB is the sense of community you gain from being in our organization. Even at your first CAB meeting you are automatically considered a CABbie and made aware of all the opportunities you have to shine in this organization! There is also a ton of room for personal leadership development, and in CAB you gain skills that will help you both in the classroom and out.
This is my third year in CAB and my second year on E-Board. I love CAB because it has allowed me to meet so many new people and create great friendships. I have learned so much from this organization and I don't know where I would be without it! CABbie on.
Hello, my name is Elliot Berg and I'm from a small town on Michigan’s east side called South Lyon. I graduated from South Lyon High School in 2011 and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I took a tour of Western’s campus and fell in love with the campus and the atmosphere that surrounds WMU, I'm now a Junior, and will be graduating in April 2015. I am currently seeking a degree in Economics with a double minor in Business Administration and Political Science. During my first-year as a Bronco I wasn't very involved and found it difficult to manage my time, but luckily I had help from good friends and found my way the beginning of my second year. My sophomore year I started going to CAB meetings every Monday at 8:30pm, I didn’t think I would ever be able to put on large or small scale event like the members of CAB did, but towards the middle of the year I ran for Miller Movies Coordinator and was elected. The experience was nothing but fruitful. I am now serving as CAB’s Treasurer and couldn’t be more excited to see just how much goes into putting on a small or large scale event. I have learned so much from the different organizations I have had the opportunity to be in it would take me years to learn what I have in a classroom, there really is no substation for productive hands on experience. This upcoming year I have high hopes and look forward to continuing a role on CAB's e-board. I cannot wait to see what CAB has in store for next year, whatever it is I have no doubt it will be engaging and exciting. I am very proud to be a CABbie and, as always, its a great day to be a Bronco!
I am a sophomore majoring in Organizational Communication and minors in Event Management and Textile and Merchandising. I have been involved with CAB the whole time I have been on campus here, I joined as a General Assembly (GA) member my first semester first year and then second semester I was elected to the Cultural Events Coordinator position. Last year I was elected to my now position of Media Relations Coordinator; my position is in charge of all social media sites as well as ordering all promotions for the organization. I also co-coordinate the Street Team committee in our General Assembly meetings. CAB has been a great experience for me and has helped me to figure out what career I want to pursue; I want to plan music festivals or concert tours for musicians. I currently am an Intern for Faster Horses Festival 2014 and I wouldn't have gotten this internship without my experience with CAB.
Major: Communication Studies
Minors: Marketing and Event Management
What CAB has given me: CAB has given me the opportunity to meet some of the most wonderful and influential people of my college career. I truly do not know where I would be without all the love and energy that radiates from this organization. It has helped me realize my potential as a leader and is continuously pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone. Looking back, I am not the same person I was when I first joined CAB and I cannot imagine where I would be or what I would be doing right now if I weren't involved in this organization.
Why I love CAB: I love CAB because it gives students plenty of opportunities to get involved. I love how CAB is always welcoming new members and giving recognition to CABbies. I enjoy having the opportunity to meet new people whether it be at meetings, our events, or collaborations and partnerships with other campus organizations and departments. CAB is the bees knees!
I joined CAB my junior year to get more involved on campus. Little did I know that I would meet some of my best friends and become so involved that I would join the Executive Board. It has been a great journey through CAB and I wish I could be involved next year.
My name is Gina Cavanaugh and I am a sophomore studying communication. I joined the Campus Activities Board as soon as I came to Western because I wanted to get involved on campus. In addition to all the people I've met and fun I've had, it has given me some really valuable experiences that can assist me in pursuing my goals of working in higher education and student affairs. My favorite memory of CAB is competing on their team for Homecoming and showing off my Bronco pride.
Hello! I am currently a junior studying Interpersonal Communication and loving every minute of my experience here at Western. A large part of my happiness at school is due to being in CAB. I joined CAB my first year here and came alone, I was absolutely terrified, but somehow I found a group of people I now call family. CAB has done so much for me and so many other students and it can be an amazing experience for you too! Just come to our meetings every Monday at 8:30pm in room 208 of the Bernhard Center, there's always fun... and occasionally some food.
I love CAB because of all it has done for me and what it continuously does for all of its members. CAB has helped me figure out who I am, has developed me as a leader and has given me some of the best friends a girl could ask for. We work hard and we play harder and that's why I love it.
I am a senior studying Public Relations and Global & International Studies. This is my third year in CAB, and my second year on the executive board. I joined because a friend of mine constantly told me how great CAB was, so I finally came to a meeting and found out she was right! If there's anything you want to ask me, or if you have questions/suggestions/requests regarding off-campus promotion, philanthropic events, or communication with WMU departments and administration, feel free to contact me! #CABbieforlife
