Describe your current job:

I manage a team of two human resources professionals covering the State of Michigan, with approximately 4000 employees. I work with heads of lines of business on their employee relations needs. Negotiating, Influencing, and Consultative skills are important when working with leaders. My job is to help you get to where you need to be. I help managers and employees know and understand performance concerns, which is imperative to an engaged staff and maintaining a place where everyone wants to work.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

Working with different lines of business and different levels of managers is my favorite part of my job. In addition, learning about business.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

My professors and mentors at work helped me through the four years I was at WMU. In addition, my fellow students were the best people I could possibly ask to work with.

What advice would you offer students to help them decide on a career path?

Look outside your box. Talk to various people on campus. Think about your ideal job and how you will achieve your dream.
