Federal Work-Study Funds
Work-Study is a need-based financial aid program funded by the Federal government, and WMU. Students must complete the financial aid application (FAFSA) in order to be considered for federal work-study. As with most financial aid programs, federal work-study is awarded primarily for the fall/spring academic year. A separate application is required to request additional work-study for SU1/SU2 sessions.
Federal work-study is awarded by term, and may be earned throughout the term provided the student maintains at least half-time enrollment (six hours for fall and spring semesters or three hours for summer) and continues to meet general financial aid eligibility requirements. Maximum earnings per term are limited by the term award amount. If a student exceeds the award amount, the employing department will be responsible for the excess.
