Current Job Title:

Associate Department Chair

Current Employer:

Davenport University

Describe your current job:

I am a faculty with administrative duties too. I teach marketing class within the College of Business and I hire adjunct faculty, mentor new faculty, advise students, and am a faculty advisor for our American Marketing Association.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is working with students as they prepare to graduate and graduate and put their skills and abilities to work in the marketplace.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

When I started as a freshman at WMU I was an undecided major. I grew up in a small town and had no real idea what I wanted to do or what I wanted to major in. At the end of my freshman year, I worked with career services, took a placement type test, which steered me to the College of Business and towards marketing. This assessment was spot on, and I never looked back.

What advice do you have for students looking for their career after college?

I suggest that students get as much volunteer and intern type experience as they can in undergrad. Also, if there are student organizations that match your major or the type of experience you want, join them. These experiences and organizations provide you the chance to network and meet others who could help you find a position when you are ready to graduate.
