Supervisor of the Year, 2006/07

Raymond "Andy" Arnold

Over the last three years as Director of Intramural Sports, Andy Arnold has strengthened and built this program to what it is today. Through the rebuilding process, every policy and procedure has been reviewed, analyzed, and rebuilt to better serve WMU students. IM Sports is now a very respectable, organized, efficient operation that provides an essential service to the students of WMU. Andy is responsible for 85 student employees who are officials, site managers, graduate students, and climbing wall staff for University Recreation.

He leads IM sports with determination and respect. Andy encourages the creative growth of his employees by giving them the space and support to develop new sports and programming. He has created a strong sense of family among his staff. Andy makes a great impact on everyone he works with from the students he supervises to the customers his employees service. His supervisor states: "He is creative, demanding, empowering and a champion to help students learn and grow. Every program Andy is involved with, he always has a student by his side, giving them the opportunity to develop and contribute to the project. He is an involved staff member who makes a difference with his students."
