Student Employee of the Year, 2008/09
Paul B. Dillon
Paul came to Western Michigan University as an undergraduate student in 2004. He is studying for his BA majoring in Political Science with a minor of Religion. Paul is from Adrian Michigan.
Paul was nominated by his supervisor Michelle Loedeman, Accounts Receivable.
Following is Michelle's nomination:
Paul Dillon is employed at Accounts Payable and has been since January of 2007. His title is Collections Manger/Accounts Receivable.
The Accounts Receivable office would like to nominate Paul Dillon for Belleville Student Employee of the Year award. Paul is a fantastic young man who came to work in our department in January of 2007. He is an invaluable asset to the entire department and an exceptionally dependable individual. We have always been able to count on him to be here during his scheduled work hours and complete his work assignments, even after his personal tragedy in the loss of his father. Though he is here as a student worker assigned to Sheila Atherton, the Assistant Director of Accounts Receivable, all of the staff has been allowed to utilize him. We have other student workers specific to the areas in the Accounts Receivable office i.e., Perkins Loans, Pre-collect/Collections, Student fees and Third Party billing; however, Paul's talents at organization, computer skills, his abilities and intelligence have made him extremely helpful to the entire staff. He has become that versatile in the short time he has worked here. His duties include filing invoices, auditing, organizing data, information look-up printing/scanning, computer setup, maintenance, cleaning as well as running errands. When given a project, large or small, and there have been many since he started working here, Paul is enthusiastic and will always complete the assignments in a timely manner with great attention to detail. You know you can count on Paul. He is a special individual who is able to work without constant direction, definitely a self starter. Paul has been ready to lend a hand with his computer knowledge and has come to the rescue many times for the staff and kept us up and running without the need of other WMU computer support personnel. If he overhears a problem, he will come running to see if he can be of assistance.
Did I tell you he bakes! Yes, this energetic student makes and brings the staff baked goods to help brighten our days. We look forward to the days he is here and count ourselves very lucky to have Paul as a part of the Accounts Receivable team. We think Paul is a thoughtful, caring person that takes his responsibilities seriously.
We believe his work makes a difference to many at the University and he is deserving of this recognition. We are sure that wherever Paul goes when he graduates and leaves Western Michigan University, he will be an outstanding individual and a valuable asset. We want Paul to know, WMU thanks you!
