Student participation in Alpha

Why have I been asked to participate in the Alpha Program?

Students invited to participate in the Alpha program possess potential for success in college, but also have high school GPA and/or ACT/SAT scores that are below the average of incoming first year students. The Alpha Program aims to provide support and access to resources during the critical first year of college.

Is the program for my entire college career?

No, the Alpha Program is for your first two semesters only. At the end of your freshman year you may declare a major or remain in Exploratory Advising (the temporary advising home for undecided students).

Am I required to participate in the Alpha Program?

Yes, your admission offer is contingent on your participation in the program.

Can I work a job and be involved in campus life while still meeting the Alpha Program requirements?

You can work or participate in college activities with the exception of pledging a fraternity or sorority as long as you limit your obligations to 20 hours per week.
