Family Studies

Family Studies Advisory Board (FSAB)

The mission of the FSAB is to serve as a resource to the Family Studies undergraduate program and Family Life Education master's program. The FSAB will:

Assist in curriculum articulation and development.
Represent the program to the greater community.
Assist students in their professional development.
Assist faculty in maintaining high quality and competitive programs.

Specifically, the FSAB will:

Assist in the development of partnerships with community action agencies and organizations to establish internship and employment opportunities.
Review and strengthen the existing field experience and internship process.
Participate in "shadowing" experiences and act as mentors.
Act as agents in the field for the sharing and collaborative use of human, community and financial resources for the program.
Keep faculty informed about current issues and trends in the community that affect families.
Serve as advocates to the university at large for family studies programs.
Serve as a voice for Family Studies in the community to increase awareness and understanding of family related issues (public relations with others).
Actively participate in the Family Studies program as speakers and guests.
