Strand Specific Changes:
Algebra
In CAS, set the mode to Degree or Radian by
accessing the Home tab Options menu.
The mode affects the computations within the
Home tab as well as the Settings, Graph,
and Table tabs. Set the mode before performing computations
or defining and selecting trigonometric functions to be plotted.
Perform computations involving Complex Numbers within CAS (Home
tab>Options menu). When this option is checked, "i" is
defined to be "sqrt(-1)." Available
functions involving complex numbers can be accessed by selecting Functions>Complex
Numbers.
Function Iteration is a new custom tool unique to Course 3 Algebra.
Access this tool and view the corresponding help instructions for details
on its use.
Geometry
Construct Tangents is a new construction feature
now available in Course 3. To construct tangents to circles, draw a Circle
(
)
and a Point (
),
Select (
)
both objects, then choose the
button.
Custom tools and sketches specifically designed for the Course 3 content
are now featured. These tools are useful for exploring various geometric
properties in synthetic and coordinate environments. New Custom
Tools include: Explore
Similar Triangles, Explore Angles and Arcs, and Explore
Radians. New Sample
Sketches include: Sierpinski Triangle, Tangents to
Circles, Lighthouse,
Chord Lengths in Circles, and Ferris Wheel.
Set the number of digits shown for a calculated object in Interactive
Geometry. Select a calculated object (e.g., an angle measure),
then choose Change Style of Selected in the Edit menu.
Use the Digits drop-down menu to set the number of digits
to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.
Statistics
New general purpose tools have been added: Distribution of Sample,
and Randomization
Distribution. Additionally, new custom tools for Course 3 include: Control
Charts and Binomial
Distribution. Extensive help pages including instructions for use
of each of these tools can be accessed by clicking the help button
within a tool.
The Data Analysis Histogram
options
have expanded to include the ability to:
Show a Grid, which is useful when reading values from the histogram plot. This feature is turned "on" by default and
can be turned off by selecting Grid in the Options menu. NOTE: This plot option is available in other tools, check it out in
Simulation graph view.
Mark Standard Deviations and show a Normal Theoretical curve on a plotted histogram. Access these options
in the Histogram plot window under the Options menu. A checkmark indicates they are shown, otherwise they are hidden.
Simulation has been updated to include two new Distribution
Events in the Build menu:
Random Binomial and Random Normal.
