Nancy Owens Vice President of Human Resources (retired), General Motors

Nancy Owens recently retired from General Motors as the vice president of human resources for GM international operations in Shanghai, China. In this role, Owens led global human resource strategies and key initiatives to drive business results and support more than98,000 employees working in the region. She has more than 25 years of leadership experience at GM with major focus in global leadership development, performance management, compensation, and organizational capability. At GM, Owens held several significant positions in human resources in North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Key initiatives included succession planning for senior executives globally, integration of cultures from GM and Daewoo (Korea) acquisition, restructure of GM do Brasil, establishment of women's councils and change management initiatives in North Africa. She was a member of The Conference Board's Emerging Markets Council and Asia Pacific Council. Owens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University, a Master of Teaching from Oakland University and a Doctor of Philosophy from Wayne State University.
