Jen was appointed as the Coordinator of the Office of LBGTA Student Services in Spring 2012, and since then, existing programs have continued to grow, while new programs have been added to support student success and improve campus climate. Before joining the Office of Diversity and Inclusion team, Jen was the Executive Director of the OutCenter, an LBGT community center based in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Jen's experience in diversity and inclusion presentations and trainings focus on building anti-oppressive institutions able to eliminate barriers and create welcoming spaces to all people, including the LBGT community.

Christine, who also goes by Chrissy, is a fourth year undergraduate student who is double majoring in Gender and Women’s Studies and English along with a minor in Communication. As a student who chose to attend Western Michigan University because of the campus climate for LBGTQA* identified people, Christine has been intentional about immersing herself in the activist community of Kalamazoo, particularly through the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center, the registered student organization OUTSpoken, and the Office of LBGT Student Services. Christine is passionate about creating and maintaining positive environments for all people and incorporates a social justice mindset in all that she does. A long time lover of cats, Christine frequently talks about her 13 year old cat, Mittens.

Taja Cato-Jackson is a sophomore Journalism major with a Gender and Women’s Studies minor. This is her second year in the office and has been involved in many different events including the LBGTA Diversity Career Fair, World AIDS Day, the Midwest Bisexual Gay Lesbian Transgender and Ally College Conference, Campaign for Love and many more. She will be the student administrator for the LBGT Student Advisory Council this year and will also be getting involved with the SpeakOUT! Speakers Bureau program.

Matthew is a second year student studying Political Science with a concentration in Public Law, minoring in Gender and Women Studies. His favorite part of working in our office is being able to share and connect people with resources as well as getting to know people in the office. He is interested in a future career in politics and working with political campaigns and non-profit organizations. Matt loves to volunteer with non-profit organizations in his spare time. He also enjoys being fabulous, volunteering in the community, driving, coloring, and learning. He loves all the colors.

Sammie is a first year student studying Elementary Education, minoring in history and english. She has interned in two preschools, and loves working with children. Her favorite part about working in our office is getting to know all different types of people and being able to help everyone possible. She is very excited about her future in education and helping to grow the minds of children to come. In Sammie's spare time she plays softball, listens to music, sleeps, and writes stories. Sammie also loves dogs, volunteering, rainbows, and laughing. Sammie always has a smile on her face, and enjoys all colors.

Amberose is a Senior undergraduate studying Communication Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, and Rhetoric and Writing Studies. Amberose likes long walks on the beach barefoot, mainly because they despise shoes.

Stefani is a 4th year student studying Communication and English.  She enjoys praise dancing, laughing and observing human expression. Originally from all over the Detroit area, Stefani is passionate and motivated to make a difference in society today by sharing knowledge, love and purpose. She enjoys learning and contributing to the success of the office.

Char is a sophomore majoring in Fine Arts. She applied to work in our office because she loves to interact with diverse groups of people. She believes that working in our office can help break a chain in other communities that may not support the LBGT movement. She looks forward to learning more things this year! Char likes to eat oreos with whipped cream, her weakness is donuts (no jelly filled) and she has a good eye for fashion.

Nisha is a senior majoring in anthropology and minoring in sociology. She is excited to learn more about theesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender community. One of the most important things she has learned is that our office also helps individuals who are questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity along with individuals who are allies to the LBGT community. Nisha brings an optimistic, friendly attitude and willingness to helping anyone who might need her support. In addition to being a student, she's an employee, pop culture/tech nerd, bookworm, cook, fiance, stepmother and cat enthusiast. She's also obsessed with Halloween, skulls and body modifications.
