The LBGT Student Advisory Council meets with top leaders and administrators across WMU to support a campus community that celebrates the diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The council is comprised of up to 15 students who meet every 2 weeks on Thursday evenings with various WMU departments and organizations to learn more about LBGT-supportive initiatives already happening on campus. Through dialogue we offer opportunities to expand outreach and support to the LBGT community. In the spring semester, the council will put together a group project from what is learned in the fall semester. The project is designed to address an area of need to further support LBGTA-inclusion at WMU.
Participation in the LBGT Student Advisory Council is a 2 semester commitment.

Moreover, WMU aims to ensure that the campus climate is welcoming and affirming for all persons by addressing the causes and sources of structural inequalities and changing the decision-making processes that prevent “genuine participation” of all university constituents.
