E-Commerce Committee

E-Commerce Committee

Overview

At the direction of the Vice President for Business and Finance and the CIO, the E-Commerce Committee (ECC) was formed in November 2006 to deal with the increasing decentralization of the University’s business activities through the web. While the web is a very effective tool for providing information to the public, it can also streamline efforts for gathering information. Ensuring that payment information is being obtained properly and securely through the web and maintaining compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS) is the main purpose for this committee.

The ECC has been charged with:

  • Finding one campus-wide e-commerce solution that fits the majority of the campuses needs and gets us PCI DSS compliant.
  • Supporting and advising departments on needed actions to be in compliance with PCI DSS and WMU’s E-Commerce Policy.

If your department has an e-commerce website, or is planning to put up a site, that collects any payment information, please contact Liana Fox in Cashiering at (269) 387-2952 or liana.fox@wmich.edu.
