Career Edge

WMU students are well known for the broad range of career experience they bring with them when they are hired. The Career Edge is an intentional effort to encourage each WMU student to engage beyond the classroom in their learning; specifically it is designed to help you to develop the skills and competencies you need to be competitive in your career.

You will have the opportunity to develop your unique career edge through co-curricular activities to enhance their studies by completing the following steps:

1. Prepare. Participate early in career planning and continue doing so throughout your college career.
2. Experience. Complete at least one specific activity directly related to your field of study, such as an internship, cooperative education, practicum, study abroad, service learning, research project or leadership training.
3. Document. Create a portfolio or co-curricular transcript documenting these accomplishments; reflect on the resulting enhanced learning, and the enhancement of the student’s career edge beyond college.
