Teacher education at Western Michigan University involves programs within the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Development, Fine Arts, and Health and Human Services. The preparation of new teachers also involves close partnerships with local schools, the Michigan Department of Education, and national accreditation groups.
Candidates must meet all requirements of WMU, their respective academic colleges, and the Michigan Department of Education. Specific requirements for each teaching program may be obtained from the Office of Admissions and Advising and in the major departments.
The Conceptual Framework for teacher education at WMU is summarized in the description of the Reflective Practitioner.
