Why did you choose WMU?
I chose WMU for its College of Engineering and Division 1 Varsity Soccer Team. During my freshman year I was a walk-on athlete for the team (terminated my spot on the roster after 1st semester of freshman year). Simultaneously I pursued a degree in Imaging but decided it was not what I thought it was. During my sophomore year I was undecided and upon my hire at the Student Recreation Center as an Associate, I found my passion with Recreation Management.
Favorite aspect of the University:
Faculty members at WMU are EXTREMELY helpful and sympathetic. I look up to many faculty members as role models. They are definite motivators for my success.
Helpful experience at WMU:
The College of Engineering’s partnership with the Michigan-Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (MI-LSAMP) assisted me with adjusting to what college life will encompass. I learned the day-to-day lifestyle of a college student some time before my other freshman colleagues.
Favorite faculty/staff member?
Dr. Lee deLisle, Chair of the Human Performance and Health Education Department. He’s a great teacher, role model and friend. He has lend every ounce of a helpful hand in both career guidance as well as life. I respect his character and wisdom to the utmost.
Greatest accomplishment in life so far:
I do not take for granted the fact that I now have wisdom and confidence in my ability to manage a professional and social attitude within any setting. I am proud to also say that I plan to seek further education after my baccalaureate degree.
Favorite Movie:
Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon - I'm a martial art movie fanatic
Favorite Kalamazoo Hangout:
I enjoy intramural football and soccer so I will have to say either intramural playing fields.
Favorite book:
I do not have a favorite book. But I do have a favorite quote, "life is about love and patience".
