Graduate Scholarships
Award amounts are determined by the endowment unless noted. Eligibility Criteria is listed below.
List of Scholarships
Captain Robert E.T. Beisel, Jr. Graduate Scholarship
- Enrolled full-time or part-time
- Must be admitted to a graduate level professional education program in the College of Education and Human Development
- Preference will be given to students with active duty status in the U.S. military
Kelly Carman Memorial Scholarship
- Junior, senior or graduate student
- Enrolled full-time majoring in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education
- Preference given to non-traditional students
- Renewable depending on student year
Dorothy L. (Bladt) and Roy G. Franzen Scholarship
- Applicant must be enrolled in master's program in Early Childhood Education
- Must hold and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must be enrolled in ED 6790, Capstone Seminar during upcoming year
- Preference given to applicants who show achievement or promise in Early Childhood Education
- Each award recipient must complete a project each semester or in two semesters. Projects to be determined by Early Childhood Education faculty member and recipient.
John W. and Evelyn M. Fry English Scholarship Fund
- Available to all College of Education and Human Development students
Marion I. Hall Endowment Scholarship
- Full or part-time student
- Undergraduate or graduate student
- Must hold and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Preference given to students preparing for careers in elementary or secondary education (teacher certification programs)
Dorothy H. and Cora Hurd Charles Scholarship
- All students enrolled in a College of Education and Human Development curriculum are eligible
Lucille Abbott Nobbs/ABE Endowed Scholarship
- Members of, or a direct descendent of a member of the Alpha Beta Epsilon (ABE) WMU Sorority will receive first preference for this scholarship. Applicants are responsible for indicating membership and/or familial relationship on the application and providing verification if necessary.
- Junior or senior status undergraduate student or graduate student
- Enrolled full-time in a teacher education program
- Must hold and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Award is solely for WMU tuition, fees and book expenses only.
- Renewal of award available up reapplication (two consecutive years)
Howard and Mary Pendell Endowed Scholarship
- Must be a graduate of the Muskegon, Michigan public schools
- Enrolled in the College of Education and Human Development and intending to pursue a career in Elementary Education
- Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must have demonstrated financial need
Merze Tate Scholarship
- Enrolled full-time or part-time, graduate or undergraduate
- Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial need (including, but not limited to, deserving foreign students who are in need of financial assistance)
