Kenneth Knight Scholarship

 

Award Amount:

The award will be up to $5,000 per year for each of four scholarships and may be renewed for one additional year.

Eligibility Criteria:

The intention of the scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to
students qualifying under the following conditions:

  • Scholarships shall be given to full or part time graduate or undergraduate (one-half to graduate and one-half to undergraduate) students enrolled in the engineering curriculums of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
  • Recipients shall be chosen on the basis of academic standing and achievement.
  • For undergraduate students, the scholarship criteria are: in an engineering curriculum; met requirement for advancement to upper division courses; minimum overall GPA of 3.25, including repeated and transfer courses; must have demonstrated leadership within CEAS, commitment to the engineering profession, and potential for significant contribution to the profession with evidence provided in letters of recommendation. Recommendation for the scholarship must also come from the department chair.
  • For graduate students: in either master’s or doctorate degree in engineering; should be used to augment department assistantships; two letters of recommendation from faculty providing evidence of commitment to teaching and research and to advancing the candidate’s area of study. Scholarship recommendation must come from the department chair.

Procedure:

Candidates should be selected by departments using established departmental procedures. The recommendation from the departmental scholarship committee must be in writing.
