Be a part of the solution. The Master of Arts in Physical Education (with an emphasis in pedagogy) at Western Michigan University provides students with a comprehensive physical education immersion experience, and prepares them to emerge as experts in the field.
This online program from WMU's Department of Human Performance and Health Education connects students with a community of physical education professionals. The program is conducted almost entirely online.
Individuals who wish to improve and expand their professional teaching skills, acquire self-assessment skills and develop supervision competencies. Most students who enroll in this emphasis are typically interested in continuing their careers in public and private schools and aspire to improve their teaching effectiveness as well as to become intern teaching supervisors. Please note that this program does not lead to initial teacher certification nor does it provide an endorsement to teach physical education for those already holding a teaching certificate.
This degree, paired with Michigan Teacher Certification, prepares you to teach physical education courses at public and private schools, as well as preparing you for teacher supervision positions related to this field.
For this Online program, the internship or field placement is optional. If you plan to complete this activity outside of the state of Michigan, you must complete the Activity Request Form at the time of enrollment for this course.
