Other scholarships for undergrads

This isn't the end! There are still a variety of other scholarships to consider, including those offered through intercollegiate athletics, frats and sororities, and off-campus organizations.

Administrative Professionals' Association

Eligibility

  • Sophomore or above at end of the summer I semester (at least 26 hours earned)
  • GPA of 2.5
  • Must be a child of current APA member
  • Must be a full-time student

Awards

$500 for fall semester (non-renewable)

Clifford and Ella Chapman Distinguished Senior Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Full-time WMU undergraduate student
  • Senior status (88 credits)
  • 3.5 grade point average
  • Extracurricular activities/work history considered
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Award

  • $200 for spring of senior year
  • Application must be received by March 1

Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Award Program

Eligibility

  • Full-time WMU undergraduate student
  • Student and faculty sponsor develop a research project and submit a joint proposal
  • 60 credit hours completed prior to beginning of project
  • 3.50 grade point average

Awards

  • $1,200 for one semester (may be renewed)
  • Apply by March 1 for fall awards and by November 1 for spring awards

A. Robert Kleiner/WMU-AAUP Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

This award is available to any undergraduate or graduate student who will be enrolled during fall or spring, and has interest or experience in the field of collective bargaining/labor relations. Applications are especially invited from students planning to attend law school.

Awards

$1,500 stipend for either fall or spring, to be used at the discretion of the recipient.

Application/Contact

You must complete an applicationpdf application including a short statement outlining your career goals and explaining how the award would assist you in achieving those goals. Application deadline is June 6.

Charter Township of Kalamazoo WMU Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Be a high school senior who has lived in the Charter Township of Kalamazoo during your junior and senior year of high school (with certification by a high school official of your address during your junior and senior year)
  • Be admitted to WMU by June 1 as a freshman in a degree-granting program for fall
  • Have a junior and senior year cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of your senior year
  • Demonstrate financial need according to federal guidelines

Award

$400 for your freshman year at WMU ($200 fall/ $200 spring)

Athletic grants-in-aid

Eligibility

WMU makes certain grants-in-aid available to students excelling in athletics and participating in varsity sports.  A student must be recommended by the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.
