Strategic Planning

The Western Michigan University College of Fine Arts is guided by a vibrant strategic map. It is based on the best thinking of the leadership team in consultation with a broad audience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, emeriti, donors, advisors and community friends. The strategic map guides and integrates the college's decisions regarding enrollment management, student development, academic and artistic standards, facilities planning, human resource allocations, budgetary allocations, teaching and performance equipment (including technology), alumni relations and development activities.

The map represents a plan that carefully integrates the college's values, priorities and aspirations. It is designed to serve every unit within the College of Fine Arts while establishing a coherent direction for departments and schools to function as one artistic community.

Seeking to graduate students of distinction, the college acknowledges its core mission of providing first-rate education for all students. The college offers evolving degree programs, while functioning as an artistic community through more meaningful and cross-departmental interaction. This includes producing works of visual and performing art as a creative force with extensive cultural programming. The college is focused on attracting and retaining a qualified faculty and staff.
