
The Western Michigan University Foundation congratulates State Farm Insurance, which recently received the 2009 Outstanding Corporation Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, West Michigan Chapter. The award was presented during National Philanthropy Day ceremonies in Grand Rapids.
The award is presented to a corporation, or its corporate foundation, that demonstrates outstanding commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.

State Farm annually supports dozens of charitable organizations in West Michigan, including Western Michigan University. For the last seven years, State Farm has generously supported the personal financial planning program in the Haworth College of Business through a professorship, scholarships, an executive on loan and through other support.
Also, for the past six years State Farm has made major investments in teacher training programs provided by the College of Education and Human Development, including support for teaching internships and scholarships.
