Can transfer students participate in Fall Welcome?

Yes! Fall Welcome hosts a program called Transfer Express geared specifically toward transfer students. We know the needs of transfer students differ from those of first-year students, but that transfer students also need the opportunity to become acclimated to WMU, campus resources, and the Kalamazoo community.

During Transfer Express you will be in a small group with other transfer students and an upperclassman leader. This will give you the opportunity to begin building relationships with your peers. You will attend a few of the Fall Welcome events, but there are also activities designed especially for transfer students. Transfer Express will help you become acclimated both socially and academically to WMU before classes begin.

How do I register?

You can register for Transfer Express by logging on to the Go WMU portal, signing on with your username and password, clicking the "First-Year Experience" box and following the links for Fall Welcome registration. As a transfer student, the system will automatically identify you as such and you will be enrolled in Transfer Express. After you register, you will receive an automatic confirmation page, as well as an e-mail sent to your WMU e-mail address. The registration deadline for Transfer Express is Friday, August 10, 2012.

How much does Transfer Express cost?

The fee to participate in Transfer Express is $165.

Where will I check in?

Check-in for Transfer Express will take place on Tuesday, August 28 between 2 and 5 p.m. If you live on campus, you will check-in and move into your assigned residence hall at that time. If you live off campus, you will check-in between 5 and 6 p.m. at Davis Hall. Don't forget to bring your Bronco ID card to check in!

For transfer students participating in special programs:

If you are in a special program, move-in to your residence hall on Monday, Aug. 27, so you can attend your special programs meeting(s) Monday and Tuesday.  You will receive communication direclty from your special program if you are participating.

If you are an off-campus Transfer Express student in a special program, check in on Monday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. at room 157 Bernhard Center.
