New Student Orientation 2012: Schedule of Events

Day 1:  Parents and Families

9:15 to 9:30 a.m.

Check-in for honors students and those taking the reading test:  Valley 1 residence halls.

9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Check-in for everyone else in Valley 1 residence halls
10 to 11:30 a.m. Lee Honors College Orientation in the Bernhard Center
10 to 11:30 a.m. Meet and Greets, University Showcase and Lunch in Valley 1 (non-honors)
11 a.m. Late check-in begins in the Bernhard Center
Noon to 12:55 p.m. Welcome and Programming sessions in Bernhard Center (2nd floor)
1 to 1:50 p.m. Academic College presentations in the Bernhard Center
2 to 3 p.m. Programming sessions in the Bernhard Center
3:05 p.m. Students will connect with their families on Day 2.

Day 1:  Students

3:15 to 6 p.m. Tours, with Orientation Programming at several locations
6 to 7 p.m. Dinner in the Dining Hall
7:20 to 8:40 p.m. “The Bronco Way:”  Theatrical Performance
9 to 10:30 p.m. Involvement Zone / Open Recreation and Reflection Time
10:30 p.m. Walk back to the Residence Halls for the night

Day 1:  Parents and Families

3:15 to 3:45 p.m. Programming Breakout Session (Residence Life, Financial Aid, and ROTC)
3:50 to 5 p.m. Western And You:  The Parent and Family Academy
5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Parent and Family Mixer with the Faculty (includes Hors d'oeuvres)

Day 2:  Students

7 to 8 a.m. Breakfast in Valley 1 Dining Hall
8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Academic Advising at various Academic Colleges
Noon Optional Open Houses at various Academic Colleges

Day 2:  Parents and Families

8:30 to 9 a.m. Coffee and Conversation (Gilmore Theater Complex)
9 to 10:15 a.m. “The Bronco Way:” Theatrical Performance
10:15 to 11 a.m. Student Panel
Noon Optional Open Houses at various Academic Colleges

After Academic Advising, students will reconnect with their families at the Valley 1 Residence Halls.  Students will check out to end their Orientation Experience.  Parents and Families of Engineering students will meet up at the Engineering campus after Academic Advising.
