Ilana Nash holds a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from Bowling Green State University, as well as an M.A. in English from UCLA.
Her work focuses on narrative representations of gendered adolescence in popular literature, film, and television. She is the author of American Sweethearts: Teenage Girls in Twentieth-Century Popular Culture (Indiana UP, 2006). Among her essays and book chapters is “The Innocent is a Broad: American Virgins in a Global Context,” in Virgin Territory: Representing Sexual Innocence in Film (Wayne State UP, 2010). Her work has appeared in, among others, Feminist Media Studies and The Women’s Review of Books. Dr. Nash is the founder and moderator of the Girls Studies Scholars discussion list at Yahoo! Groups.
