Setting up OS X Mail

The Mail application in OS X is a full-featured email application that supports IMAP. It may be set up to access your Webmail Plus, however to fully utilize the collaborative features of Webmail Plus, you should use its Web interface. Updates to Thunderbird or Webmail Plus could cause functionality problems which may or may not be resolved quickly.

  1. Start the Mail application.
  2. Select Mail in the Menu Bar and select Add Account…
  3. Select Add Other Mail Account…
  4. Fill in your NameEmail address and Password in the appropriate fields and click Next.
  5. You will see the message “Account must be manually configured” select Next.
  6. Enter the settings below for Incoming Mail Server Info

    Mail Server: imap.wmich.edu
    Username: Bronco NetID
    Password: Your Bronco NetID password
  7. Click Next.
  8. Enter the settings below for Outgoing Mail Server Info

    Mail Server: smtp.wmich.edu
    Username: Bronco NetID
    Password: Your Bronco NetID password
  9. Click Create. Your Webmail Plus account is now configured within Mac Mail.
