Adding Your Internet Connected Device to the Network

To add your Internet connected devices to the network, you will need the MAC address for each device. Instructions for finding that address for popular devices are below. Once you have the MAC address, select the appropriate registration link below.

Game Consoles

Xbox 360

Note: to register a game console on the network, you must have your wireless switch turned off and be using a computer plugged directly into the wall. The computer must have been previously registered on ResNet.

  1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings.
  2. Select Wired Network.
  3. Under Basic Settings, make sure the IP Setting is on Automatic.
  4. Go to the Additional Settings tab.
  5. Select Advanced Settings.
  6. At the bottom of this screen, you will see a heading called MAC address.
  7. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

Playstation 3

Note: to register a game console on the network, you must have your wireless switch turned off and be using a computer plugged directly into the wall. The computer must have been previously registered on ResNet.

  1. Power up the Playstation 3 without any disc in the drive.
  2. Once the Playstation 3 operating system has loaded, select Settings.
  3. Select Network Settings.
  4. Select Settings and Connection Status List and note the MAC Address.
  5. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

Playstation Vita

Note: to register a game console on the network, you must have your wireless switch turned off and be using a computer plugged directly into the wall. The computer must have been previously registered on ResNet.

  1. Open the Settings application and then tap Start.
  2. Scroll down and then tap the System option.
  3. Tap the System Information option.
  4. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

Nintendo DS

Note: to register a game console on the network, you must have your wireless switch turned off and be using a computer plugged directly into the wall. The computer must have been previously registered on ResNet.

 Connecting to Tsunami

  1. Insert a Nintendo Certified Wi-Fi Game.
  2. At the Setup screen, tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings.
  3. Select one of the Connection slots.
  4. Select Search For an Access Point.
  5. The name of your Wireless Access Point will be displayed. At this point, the DS should display Tsunami.
  6. If the Access Point has a Blue Unlocked Icon, tap the Access Point name and then OK.
  7. The DS will then try to establish a connection.

 Finding the MAC address

  1. Insert a Nintendo Certified Wi-Fi Game.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select System Information.
  4. The MAC address is displayed on the top line.
  5. Contact the Help Desk, (269) 387-4357, option 1, with this information to register your device.

Nintendo Wii

Note: to register a game console on the network, you must have your wireless switch turned off and be using a computer plugged directly into the wall. The computer must have been previously registered on ResNet.

  1. Select the Wii Main Menu.
  2. Select Wii Settings.
  3. Select Internet.
  4. Select Console Information and your Wii's MAC address will appear on the screen.
  5. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

Nintendo Wii U

Note: to register a game console on the network, you must have your wireless switch turned off and be using a computer plugged directly into the wall. The computer must have been previously registered on ResNet.

  1. From the Wii U Menu, select System Settings.
  2. Using the left stick, select the Internet icon and press the A button.
  3. Select View MAC Address and wait a moment for it to be displayed.
  4. When you are finished, tap Back.
  5. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

E-readers

Kindle

  1. From the home screen, press Menu
  2. Select Settings
  3. The Wi-Fi MAC Address is located towards the bottom of the screen in the Device Info section.
  4. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

Nook

  1. Tap the n below the screen
  2. Tap the Settings icon
  3. The MAC Address is located toward the bottom of the screen in the Device Information section.
  4. Take the MAC address and register the device using the appropriate link above.

Other Devices

  • Please consult your device owner's manual for assistance in locating its MAC address. You may find a MAC address listed as a physical address, Wi-Fi address, or Ethernet ID, etc, for example, MAC address: 00:AA:11:BB:22:CC.
  • Devices with a Web browser may connect to the WMU wireless network, tsunami, and get redirected to the registration page.
