Welcome to the home page for the Office of Field Education in the School of Social Work at Western Michigan University. This site is designed to meet the needs of our students, field instructors and faculty. This site is constantly being revised and updated, please check back regularly.
This site includes the links to the College of Health and Human Services and the School of Social Work home page. In addition, you can link to the Field Education Manual and Frequently Asked Questions (a quick reference to field education requirements and expectations). The Field Manual contains necessary information concerning field placements and should be reviewed frequently. Within this document you will find field placement policies, procedures, expectations, requirements, professional practice mandates, and roles/responsibilities for all those involved in the field placement process.
The forms that you will need are also available as are program curriculum, course syllabi information regarding the Council on Social Work Education (C.S.W.E.) accreditation standards/requirements and the National Association of Social Workers (N.A.S.W.) Code of Ethics. This will enable you to download your personal copy of the code. Each social work student and practitioner should be very familiar with the aspects of the code.
