Applications are accepted for the Full-time, Extended-study, and Advanced-standing programs beginning October 1 each year. The deadline for Advanced-standing applications is January 15; the priority deadline for Full-time and Extended-study applications is March 15. Applications received after the March 15 priority deadline will be considered if room is available.

The Kalamazoo full-time Advanced-standing program begins in the summer I session (early May); the Grand Rapids Part-time Advanced-standing program begins in the summer II session (late June), and the Full-time and Extended-study programs begin in the fall semester only (early September). Consideration of applications and admissions decisions begin in January and early application is advised. Provisional admission, pending successful completion of the undergraduate degree, may be granted to seniors who graduate between the date of application submission and the start of their program.

In conformance with the requirements of the Council on Social Work Education, the School of Social Work can not grant social work course credit or field hours for life experience or previous work experience.
