Degree Requirements
Applicants for admission to the School’s graduate program should expect to undertake a period of rigorous study. Successful completion of a master’s program demands a willingness to spend many hours preparing for courses, attending classes, and participating in practicum experiences.
The requirements for graduation are:
- Sixty credit hours for the full-time and extended study programs or 39 credit hours for the advanced-standing programs, including nine to twelve credit hours of practicum and six to nine credit hours of electives.
- An overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (A=4.0). Any student whose overall GPA falls below 3.0 will be placed on academic probation by the Graduate College. Any coursework receiving a grade below 2.0 (C) must be repeated.
- Proficiency in required coursework demonstrated by successfully passing each course, passing proficiency examinations, and/or transferring credit.
- All coursework must be completed for the M.S.W. degree program within six years.
- A completed Graduate Student Permanent Program Plan of Study, reviewed and approved by an advisor and sent to the Graduation Auditor.
- An application for graduation audit submitted by the given deadline
