Emeriti Professor Reception October 2013

As a department of historians, we have long been aware of the contributions of those whose efforts helped create the Department of History. The central role of the Department of History faculty in the formation of Western Michigan University has been recognized by the fact that no fewer than five campus buildings are named in honor of history faculty. cordier alumniBut we have not always been as good as we might have been at celebrating, as a department, the contributions of our more recent faculty and of our graduates--we are a humble lot. Still, we have much to be proud of and among those things--both emeriti and alumni.

At the suggestion of the History Advisory Council, the department hosted a reception for returning Emeriti and Alumni. It was an opportunity for Emeriti and Alumni to get woodyreacquainted, relive the past (and revise it if needed!), get connected to the present and, maybe, even think parsonsabout our future. After all, we need a future from which to look back on the past. As you can see from the pictures, a good time was had by young and "more seasoned" alike. We hope that you will be able to join us at a future event.
