Teaching I teach both American History survey courses. I have taught American History survey courses at Wayne State University, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, as well as at Western Michigan University. Research I have been the Curator of Research at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum since 1992. In that position, I am responsible for researching the historical content of permanent and temporary exhibitions. I develop and offer public programs focusing on various aspects of the history of Kalamazoo and southwest Michigan. I also supervise the development and care of the permanent historical collections. I have worked in museums since 1984. My previous position was Curator of Urban History at the Detroit Historical Museum. Publications Although I have not published scholarly papers, I have written articles for Michigan History magazine and exhibit reviews in The Journal of American History. As a working public historian, I publish articles in the Kalamazoo Valley Museums promotional magazine. I research and publish labels for permanent and temporary exhibits as well as developing public program scripts. My most recent exhibit script (on exhibit through January 18, 2003) is Football in Southwest Michigan. |
