|
| Travis Bruce, a Ph.D candidate in medieval history, was recently
awarded a Fulbright fellowship for research in Spain in 2004-2005.
Bruce will be working on his dissertation subject, The Taifa
of Denia and the Western Mediterranean in the Eleventh Century,
which examines Hispano-Muslim Denia’s role, across cultural
and religious boundaries, in the economic revival of the eleventh-century
Western Mediterranean, as well as the repercussions of that
revival on Denia itself. The research will involve work in
Catalan and Spanish national archives and local museums, as
well as extensive archeological surveys in the region of Alicante
and Denia. |
