Canadian Studies

Canadian Studies is a developing area of teaching, research, and public programming at WMU and is part of the Diether Haenicke Center's program in Global and International Studies. The purpose of Canadian Studies is to promote interdiscipinary approaches to the study of Canada and the Canada/United States borderlands, with special emphasis on the Great Lakes region. The program currently has three emphases: French Canada and Quebec; transnational environmental and resource issues; and migration.

Members of the History Department are prominent contributors to Canadian Studies, joining colleagues from disciplines within the College of Arts and Sciences and the Haworth College of Business. Nora Faires coordinates this initiative.
