Advising

One of the benefits of being a Lee Honors College student is the availability of dedicated advising staff who will assist you by explaining both Western Michigan University and honors college requirements. Students will receive an annual honors audit outlining their progress toward graduation.

  • To schedule an advising appointment, please call the honors college office at (269) 387-3230 and speak with our front desk staff. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
  • When emailing an advisor, be sure to include your WIN, your request and the reason(s) for your request.
    • If you are asking to add and/or drop a course, please include the CRN for each course. If this is for a closed class requiring instructor approval, please include or forward that email. We need that information from you in writing to complete your request.
  • Lee Honors College senior audits must be completed in person with your assigned advisor according to the following deadlines, listed by graduation dates:
    • Fall 2014 graduation audits must be completed by Sept. 2, 2014
    • Spring 2014 graduation audits must be completed by Jan. 7, 2014
    • Summer 2014 graduation audits must be completed by March 11, 2014
  • Thesis declaration forms are due three semesters prior to graduation.
  • Thesis defense certificate request forms are due 30 days prior to thesis defense.
  • Lee Honors College handbook
    • Effective January 2014
  • Need to withdraw from the Lee Honors College? Please read the following information and see instructions for withdrawal below.
    • If you aren't sure about withdrawing and would like to speak to an advisor about ways to finish your honors courses, honors thesis, etc., please stop in or call the front desk at (269) 387-3230 to set up an appointment.
    • We cannot withdraw students mid-semester. If you request withdrawal after the drop/add period has ended for a particular semester, you will be withdrawn at the completion of that semester.
    • You must be a member of the Lee Honors College to take honors courses. If you plan to withdraw at the end of a semester or are waiting to have your withdrawal processed, do not sign up for honors courses for future semesters. We will have to drop any honors courses from your schedule when we withdraw you.
    • Once we process your withdrawal, it takes several days for the change to appear on your billing statement. Don't panic if the program fee doesn't disappear immediately.
  • If you have read the above information and are ready to request withdrawal, please fill out our online withdrawal form. Requests received in any other format are not valid. You must complete this form in order to be withdrawn from the Lee Honors College.
