Speaker Series

The Lee Honors College hosts regular themed speaker series that cover a wide range of timely topics. Talks are provided by local, national and international experts on subjects ranging from climate change to violence against women with the goal of educating, inspiring dialog and stimulating action to improve our shared world. Most lectures are recorded and may be viewed through links provided on each series page.

Every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m., we present our Lyceum Lectures. Themes change each semester with each series designed and led by a different group of WMU faculty experts. Brown bag lunches are welcomed and time is provided for questions and discussion at the end of each lecture.

The honors college also partners with others across campus in sponsoring lively, yearlong speaker series such as the 2015 Raise Your Voice series, which was co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Fine Arts and supported by numerous departments and generous individuals. In the 2016-17 academic year, the honors college will collaborate with WMU’s Center for Humanities and the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to present Science and the Human Endeavor.

We invite you to join us and welcome suggestions for future series themes!
