Room assignments for fall semester are sent the beginning of June. If we received your housing contract, you will receive an email to your WMU email account with a link to your housing assignment information. Housing assignments will continue to be sent out about every two weeks after that as new contracts are received. Roommate information will be sent out via your WMU email account in late July.
Residence Life must have a signed contract in our office before you can receive a housing assignment. The housing sign up process includes completing an online application, printing it, and sending it to Residence Life. If we are missing your signed contract, you can re-enter the online application to print what you completed earlier.
Housing assignments are made in the order in which contracts are received. If you do not receive one of your top choices, it most likely means those halls were already full when we received your housing contract.
If you did not receive your requested roommate, there could be a few reasons. Your roommate request may not have been mutual or both contracts may not have been turned in on time. Roommates must request each other and both contracts must be received by May 15.
If you are not satisfied with your housing assignment or roommate you will have the opportunity to change rooms after the first two weeks of the semester. At that time you may contact any hall that you are interested in living in and see if they have available space.
Room assignments and roommate information for the spring semester will be emailed to your WMU student email account in mid-December.
Room assignments for the Summer I and II are sent out approximately one week before the beginning of each session to your WMU student email account.
WMU Residence Life is committed to offering housing options that provide safe and comfortable living environments for all students. This includes being attentive to the needs of students who are transgender and identifying the best possible housing options within our system.
