Each room is wired to receive basic cable television access at no additional charge.
Each residence hall has a front desk open evenings and weekends. At the desk students can check out gaming equipment, games or cleaning supplies like vacuums and brooms. The desk is also where students will pick up packages.
Residence hall rooms have an Ethernet port and wireless Internet that connects residents to ResNet, the high-speed residential computing network at Western Michigan University. An Internet fee will be charged to each student's WMU account. Visit the ResNet website for details. Wireless access is also available in main floor lobbies and lounges.
Traditional halls have laundry rooms with large-capacity washers and dryers are located in each hall. Students may use quarters or Laundry Bucks to run the machines.
Western Heights residents use the Western Height laundry program.
Each room has a U.S. postal mailbox that roommates share. Residence hall addresses are regular Kalamazoo addresses, not campus mail, so the words "Western Michigan University" should not be listed in your address as this will delay or prevent delivery. Outgoing mail can be dropped off at the front desk. Information on how to address mail is available.

Public areas and special spaces
Each hall has a variety of public areas residents may use. These include game rooms, TV rooms, study lounges and social lounges. Some halls also have special spaces for on-campus students to use.
- Fitness room: Ackley/Shilling, Eicher/LeFevre, Harrison/Stinson
- Student Success Center (tutoring): Ackley/Shilling, Eldridge/Fox, French
- Mug Shots Coffeehouse: Britton/Hadley
A telephone line with local service is available in every room. Students will need to bring their own phone, and we suggest a pre-paid calling card for long distance calls.
A major benefit of living in a residence hall is the ease with which you move in. Unlike an apartment, all utilities, as well as basic cable and local phone service, are connected and available when you arrive. No need to worry about monthly bills!
Residence Life works with select outside vendors to provide additional services for students. These vendors rent or sell common items students have in their rooms. Items include carpet, linens, lofts and MicroFridges.
